Philosophy

Founded on 30 year's experience of caring for babies and young children and training early years staff. Pepper Royd Day nursery offers high quality, flexible childcare for children from 6 months to 11 year's old.

Our philosophy is centred around the natural curiosity which we are all born with.  We provide children with a calm, stress-free environment filled with open-ended resources available at eye-level which allows them to figure things out themselves. With whitewashed, neutral-coloured walls and floors which create a tranquil environment, the focus lands on the various child led invitations to learning from which the children can learn and develop in so many ways.

In allowing children to lead their own learning this feeds into a natural fascination with the things around them. With a more flexible pattern to learning, children will be able to embrace their curiosity and embark on their own unique learning journey which will give them a wonderful starting point for the future.

We support all our children to discover the wonder of learning at their own pace. Providing a rich and fruitful learning environment for all.

Education

Here at Pepper Royd Day Nursery we get to know our children well. This ensures we are able to provide curious invitations to learning which build upon their Cultural Capital aiding them to learn and develop in all areas.

We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework (EYFS). The EYFS framework recognises that children need to be able to use concrete experiences to provide the building blocks for their learning. Based on this, the learning ethos behind the EYFS framework encourages learning through a mix of play-based and adult-led invitations to learning.

We believe every child is unique. We build positive relationships and in doing so we ensure that children can learn to be strong and independent and thrive within our nursery. We believe a child who is constantly learning will become resilient, capable, confident, and self-assured. Paving the way for a healthy future.

We also use our outdoor environments to support learning and development. We have a woodland close by that further encourages invitations to learning in the natural world. Studies have shown that outdoor learning increases self esteem and self confidence. It helps to develop physical skills, increase levels of creativity, imagination, motivation and concentration and help develop language and communication skills. We do go outdoors in all weathers but protective clothing is provided.
