 Tax Free childcare

• For working families, including the self-employed, in the UK

• Earning under £100k

• Who aren't receiving Tax Credits, Universal Credit or childcare vouchers

• With children aged 0-11 (or 0-16 if disabled)

• For every £8 you pay into an online account, the government will add an extra £2, up to £2,000 per child per year

Universal Credit

• Universal Credit is a payment to help with your living costs. It’s paid monthly 

• You may be able to get it if you’re on a low income, out of work or you cannot work.

Funded Places

• From April 2024, working parents of two-year-olds will be able to access 15 hours of free childcare. 

• From September 2024, 15 hours of free childcare will be extended down to the age of nine months for working parents.

• From September 2025, working parents of children aged nine months and upwards will be entitled to 30 hours free childcare per week right up to their child starting school.

Local Welfare Provision

• food parcels

• gas and electricity vouchers for pre-paid meters

• short-term help with your rent if you are experiencing financial hardship

Healthy Start

• If you’re more than 10 weeks pregnant or have a child under 4, you may be entitled to get help to buy healthy food and milk.

• If you’re eligible, you’ll be sent a Healthy Start card with money on it that you can use in some UK shops.
